The iNMiGRATiON site-specific performance installation series wrapped its 6-month residency at ICEHOUSE MPLS on April 12 with an evening of transcendent performances. The night’s improvised soundtrack was provided as always by Sans Le Systeme, the All-Star experimental music collective which featured Martin Dosh (drums & keys), Sarah White (vocals), Jayanthi Kyle (vocals), Busdriver (vocals), Chastity Brown (affected vocals), Ben Durrant (guitar & micro synths), William “Truth Maze” Harris III (hand drums, vocals, beatbox), Ben Clark (electric bass) Dennis Conrad (turntables & samplers), Cory Healy (drums & percussion), Jacqueline Ultan (cello), and music director James Everest (guitar synth). They were joined by the Free Range Orchestra & Choir, who played and sang throughout the space, activating every corner of the venue. Video Artist Brian Dehler mixed and swerved his multi-layered visuals across three different screens around the space. Hearts were heavy with the recent passing of local artists Jaime Carrera and Kirk Washington Jr, as well as Martin Dosh’s father, Terry, and the free flowing music and words were filled with joy and sorrow. Audio recordings of the show were recently posted to the SLS SoundCloud page.
Beginning in late spring 2016, the iNMiGRATiON series began migrating outdoors to a variety of new site-specific locations around Minneapolis and St Paul, including the Mid-Town Farmers Market and The Wolf House. Next SLS performance is at the Annual Square Lake Film & Music Festival on Aug 20. Updates, details, and other performances will be posted on the Sans Le Systeme and Wavelets Creative Facebook pages.
